We regularly receive requests for help through our wide network and (former) colleagues. We are a group of dedicated (former) police officers and we know the system inside out. We know which paths to take and how to move forward. We are not lawyers, but we know how the legal system works. We can also do additional research to make the rules of law applicable.
For instance, we were approached by someone who had already tried everything to gain access to Telegram. After suddenly being logged out, access to Telegram was no longer possible because of a phone number that had been cancelled years ago. The provider was implacable and informed that the phone number would be quarantined for five years for privacy reasons, even though the number had belonged to that person and this could be proven.
In addition, Telegram did not give in. Despite repeated attempts, the person got no response at all. Finally, we referred the person to an organization who was able to persuade the provider to release the phone number to the former number owner, allowing the person to regain access to Telegram and management of a big Telegram channel.
